This is a very sexy perfume, not too floral, not musky, not a rich-old-lady smell. It’s great for an indoor dinner event, or an evening at an outdoor club, and mild enough to be a daytime/office scent. The small bottle is enough for me because I like to change perfumes when they run out; not be loyal to just one fragrance. That being said, I interchange this perfume with the more subtle and mysterious “Valentino”.

I tried this product in a store once and loved it. When I saw the incredible price here, I immediately ordered one. I still adore the scent of this perfume however it does not last more than a hour or so. I have to carry the bottle with me whenever I go out and it is getting frustrating!! So think twice before you buy and save your money.

First, a disclaimer. I’m a man who bought this for my wife. I bought it as a blind buy, based on advertising and reviews, but it ended up being very close to what I expected, if not better. So for starters, I would say that you should believe the product advertising and imagery.
I bought this for my wife because I thought that it would be sexy and luxurious on her. And I was not disappointed. I like all kinds of scents on my wife, but it is the strong, in-your-face scents that I find really exciting. Gucci has that sort of unapologetic take on luxury – “in your face” – and this scent does not deviate from it. The bottle looks like a gilded piece of some type of “Death by Chocolate” confection, and that’s how I would describe the scent – rich, dark, and edible. It’s not chocolate, but it triggers a similar hunger in me. I almost feel like I need to keep the bottle on a way-too-big plate, with lightning bolts of chocolate and raspberry syrup drizzle making a big electric X on it. Or maybe big, girly-swirly lines that spell “Gucci”.
My wife likes the scent, but not for daily wear, especially to work. She prefers lighter and more obviously floral scents for that. There are some women who could wear Gucci/Gucci all the time, and they know who they are. Nothing wrong with that – it just needs to be your style.
The scent has some lighter, fruity topnotes that are enjoyable, but within minutes they vanish from the scene, and it goes into a sliding scale of gradually darkening base, which has a new and different edibility to it. I’m a patchouli kind of guy, but the patchouli in the base is so well built upon that I don’t even think of it as being there.
I don’t think this is a rare classic like Angel (five stars), but it’s not trying to be. Angel is a beautiful new starlet in a white fur coat who knocks you over with the rest of the paparazzi when she walks by, and leaves you not caring that you forgot to put film in the camera. All of a sudden, you’re a fan again. Gucci is different. She’s a mystery woman in a dark fur and sunglasses who gets into a black limo while you’re struggling to get film loaded. You don’t know who she is, but you know you’re gonna blow a paycheck to find out. Your instincts tell you there’s a little black dress underneath the fur. But when she’s gone, you try to imagine that she was wearing nothing at all.
